Join Lynn Turner from The Communications Museum Trust to learn more about Project X, the top-secret digital telephone system used by the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and the American President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Second World War.
There is an anecdote that Churchill initially had a phone hidden in a lavatory at the Cabinet War Rooms to prevent eavesdropping but something else was needed especially as transatlantic calls during WW2 were carried by radio waves.
This talk looks at how engineers devised a system to encrypt phone calls between allied leaders known as Project X.
