Join Worcester Community Garden for a fascinating talk and interactive workshop on the theme of seed saving in collaboration with the Heritage Seed Library (part of Garden Organic).
The Heritage Seed Library will be discussing their Sowing your Seeds project which aims to conserve, share, and safeguard rare, heirloom vegetable seeds across the Midlands. They will explore the history of their organisation and explain why preserving heirloom seeds is so vital.
The session will include the basic seed saving principles, including plant botany, preserving varieties, planning space for seed saving, population sizes and avoiding cross-pollination.
After the presentation, Worcester Community Garden and the Heritage Seed Library will lead a hands-on session for participants to prepare seeds for storage, including both wet (tomatoes) and dry(beans) techniques.
